He attempted to combine it with the Ptolemaic model (developed by ancient astronomer Claudius Ptolemy), which had never been proved accurate. In Tycho's Model, as in the Copernican, Mercury and Venus were understood to revolve around the Sun and, hence, they would go through phases like the earth's moon. A final note must be underscored. The Tychonic Model was not a cosmological 'half-way house', a 'red herring', or a 'conceptual bridge.'

Tycho's life's work in astronomy consisted of measuring the positions of the Tycho Brahe was a brilliant Danish astronomer and a devout Protestant Christian. In 1576, King Frederick II of Denmark granted him the island of Hven, solar model of Tycho. In 1588, Reimers added an additional surname Ursus (bear) to his name and wrote a book based on the Tychonic model. Lived 1546 - 1601.
